Siecha Lagoons

The lagunas de Siecha are a series of lagoons found in the páramo of Chingaza. Paramos are natural ecosystems that can only be found in the equatorial zones of the planet and are found at altitudes ranging from 3,400 to 5,000 metres above sea level. The flora and fauna found in these places is unique and often endemic to the place visited. Chingaza is one of the páramos near Bogotá and is also one of its main water sources. On this walk through the Siecha lagoons, you will learn about this ecosystem while enjoying the scenery and a nature walk.

This is a mostly walking tour so it is recommended to bring comfortable, waterproof clothing and footwear for rough areas. The area around Bogotá has variable weather and can change quickly from a sunny day to a rainy one. It is therefore advisable to use sunscreen and bring rain gear. The altitude in the páramo is over 3,400 meters above sea level so the radiation is very intense and even if it is cloudy it is advisable to use sunscreen.
